my.SDSU Glossary
- 3 Cs (CCC):
- Comments, Communications & Checklists: These are a flexible way to track and analyze correspondence, maintain lists of requirements, and keep notes about the students, staff, constituents, and organizations in your database. Note: Communication management enables you to fully manage all types of contacts inside and outside your institution. Checklist management enables you to create lists of requirements and monitor their status. Comments creation enables you to attach notable remarks about individuals and organizations.
- Bio/Demo Data:
- Biographic / Demographic data, often shortened to Bio/Demo data, indicates the data types that self-service users (standard users) can view or modify on their own. These include: Addresses, names, phone numbers, email addresses, emergency contacts, demographic information (gender, date and place of birth, marital status, etc.).
- Career:
- Designates how courses are split up on the transcript. When a student gets admitted before they start, everything appears under “Undergraduate.” When a student gets admitted and they have their Bachelor’s, it appears as “Graduate.” Within my.SDSU, there will be a new "Global Campus" career for non-matriculated students who are taking courses in extended education that would not count toward their graduate or undergraduate statistics. This is tied to admission and course type.
- Campus Community:
- Individuals and organizations are the foundation of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions. You use Campus Community to create the records for the individuals and organizations that comprise your institution's community. After you create the records, use Campus Community to continue to update, maintain, and track information about the individuals and organizations associated with your institution.
- Plan:
- An academic plan is an area of study—such as a major, minor, or specialization—that is within an academic program or within an academic career (ex. Aerospace Engineering).
- Program:
- The program defines the type of student. Most programs will be Undergraduate, Graduate, Global Campus, Credential, Advanced or Basic Certificate, or Transitory.
- Row Level Security:
- Controls access to the subset of data rows within tables to which the user has authority. Note: Security can restrict individual users or roles from specific rows of data that are controlled by such key fields as setID and business unit. You can also limit user access to a specific subset of rows. For example, if you have a group of staff in the registrar's office, you can add them all to a role and use role security to enforce the appropriate limits on their system access.
- PeopleSoft Campus Solutions / The CSU Standard:
- PeopleSoft is the technology system we will be using. The CSU Standard/CMS Baseline is the name of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions tool designed to support student services based on CSU System requirements and policies. Lastly, my.SDSU is the project to implement the CMS Standard.
- Service Indicators:
- Service indicators have positive or negative impacts on student accounts. Service indicators may be accessed via Student Service Center.
- Negative service indicators are indicated by the circle with the diagonal slash. When you see this icon on any student page, it means the student has a “negative” Service Indicator and prevents the student from receiving certain services. In Financial Aid, this is considered a “hold” and will prevent aid from disbursing. May also include transcript holds and denied registration of classes.
- Positive service indicators are indicated by red stars. These indicators designate special services individuals are entitled to. Positive service indicators do not have impact values but may be used as criteria when providing some services.
- Verification:
- The process of checking the accuracy of the information provided by students and their families when applying for financial aid.
